General Manager Report (Continued)

Having LVPOA "Members ONLY" is a little tricky. According to the member survey, it is certainly what the vast number of the members want. Since the LVPOA has traditionally provided the only venue for Civic activities like soccer, 4th of July, Hill Country Dayz, Turnback Regatta and many other events, it is not always feasible to keep non-members from using our beautiful parks. When you couple this with the fact that most of our parks are not gated, it is a daunting task to educate both members and non-members that we are a private nonprofit corporation established for the enjoyment and benefit of our members.

That being said, we are making marked progress. This year, we began issuing permanent stickers and requiring all vehicles entering the parks to display those stickers. This is a huge step toward making our parks "MEMBERS ONLY"!

An improvement we recently made with existing staff is proving to be a big success. We always envisioned the Ranger as being part security and part public relations. So, we erected an information booth at the entrance to Bar-K gate. This has served several functions. First, it provides information and a place to get temporary vehicle identification passes when the office is closed. Second, the Ranger can monitor the swimming pool and replaces the need for an attendant. Third, it provides a Ranger at the Bar-K gate which ensures those entering our most popular park are members or guests and are displaying proper identification. It also prevents gate running.

As the President mentioned, we have also made several improvements to our Ranger program to be more visible, provide member assistance as required and  present a greater presence in our parks. Each Ranger vehicle now is equipped with a first aid kit, jumper cables, cones and a variety of information for our members. We have also taken steps to ensure that our Rangers are properly trained. The next step is to provide more gates and cameras.

Emerald boat ramp has been difficult to control in the past. The BOD  purchased the land adjacent to the ramp last year and we expect to have it re-platted and rezoned by the end of May. We will then begin excavation to turn it into another beautiful amenity for our members. Here is what it looks like today:
